Brendan Hopkins, a Director for many years with the Castlebar Credit Union, tragically died in 2002 and in his memory the Credit Union approached his family & the GMIT at Castlebar with the idea of establishing the Brendan Hopkins Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship is a partnership with GMIT Castlebar and assists students in need of financial aid, and each scholarship is worth € 1,500.
The scholarship has operated for many years and presentation took place this year at the GMIT graduation ceremony on 6th November 2009.
2 Scholarships are open to all students and 1 Scholarship to students who have spent a minimum of 2 years at GMIT Castlebar and will be progressing to Degree level in Castlebar.
